Administrator of the Year

Excellence in School Nursing

Each year, the PASNAP BOD recognize a nurse/school nurse administrator from each region for excellence in School Nursing. These award winners are recognized each year at the annual education conference. From this pool of awardees, the selection of the School Nurse/School Nurse Administrator of the Year are chosen and submitted to NASN as the Pennsylvania Affiliate award honoree.

Below is a summary of the NASN application
requirements.
(The Pennsylvania Affiliate honorees are submitted by the PA NASN Director.)

Affiliate School Nurse of the Year

To publicly recognize school nurses nationwide by annually honoring one School Nurse of the Year from each affiliate who has demonstrated excellence in school nursing practice and leadership in school health.

Sponsor: NASN Affiliate School Nurse Organizations

Eligibility
1. One (1) nominee from each NASN Affiliate.
2. Nominee must be:

A registered professional nurse.
A member of NASN current and preceding two years. The preceding two years must be continuous (without lapse in membership).

Affiliate Requirements
1. Submit summary of honoree’s accomplishments. The summary may not exceed 300 words.
2. Submit digital photograph of honoree at least 300 dpi/inch. The photograph must be formatted as a .jpg and should be no larger than 1MB in size.

Suggested Guidelines for Affiliate School Nurse of the Year
1. Nominee should have five years experience as a school nurse and is currently practicing as a school nurse.
2. More than 50% of nominee’s time should be spent in direct care.
3. Evidence of excellence in school nursing practice should be based on Scope and Standards of Professional School Nursing Practice (National Association of School Nurses and American Nurses Association, 2010):

Affiliate School Nurse Administrator of the Year

Purpose
To publicly recognize school nurse administrators nationwide by annually honoring one School Nurse Administrator of the Year from each affiliate.

NASN Affiliate School Nurse Organizations

Eligibility
1. One (1) nominee from each NASN Affiliate
2. Nominee must be:

Registered professional nurse
Bachelor degree or higher
Member of NASN for the current and preceding five years. The preceding 5 years must be continuous (without lapse in membership).

Affiliate Requirements
1. Submit summary of honoree’s accomplishments. Summary may not exceed 300 words.
2. Submit digital photograph of honoree at least 300 dpi/inch.

Suggested Guidelines for Affiliate School Nurse Administrator of the Year
1. Nominee should have completed five years experience in school health, and currently practice full-time and have as their main responsibility the supervision, administration, and coordination of nursing service and health programs
2. Evidence of excellence in school nursing administration should be based on ANA Scope and Standards for Nurse Administrators.
